proceedings template.
All final submissions must be in PDF format. Use Adobe Type 1
Postscript fonts. Avoid Type 3 fonts. While Type 3 fonts print without
problems, they are unreadable within the Digital Library (DL). All
fonts (print and screen) and images must be embedded within the
submitted file. The postscript fonts must be loaded to the machine
that is creating the pdf file. When Acrobat is used for creating PDF
files, the fonts used must be embedded in the PDF by Acrobat
Distiller. Go to "Settings, Job Options ..." menu. Make sure Font
Embedding is "On" Always verify that the fonts and images are
embedded within each file to avoid having to resubmit your files. PDF
files must be optimized and include thumbnails.
In the copyright box in the bottom left hand corner of the first
page, please type:
Copyright is held by the author/owner. Permission
to make digital or hard copies of all or part of this work for

You are welcome to add additional permission statements or a Creative Commons license.
SUBMITTING YOUR PAPER
The final camera ready version of your paper is due May 29, 2009. To upload your final manuscript, please visit http://cups.cs.cmu.edu/start/www/SOUPS/final.html
and at the top of the page, enter the passcode associated with your
paper.
ACM PERMISSIONS FORM
All SOUPS papers will be published in the ACM Digital
Library. Therefore, we must have a signed permission form from all
authors. Please download the form in PDF or Word format, sign it, and
submit it by June 12. You can submit it by postal mail or scan it and email us
the PDF. Complete instructions on where to send the form are
included on the form itself.
POSTERS
We will include poster abstracts on the SOUPS CD and web
site. However, poster authors also need to prepare an actual poster
for the SOUPS poster session. We will provide easels, a 32 in. x 40
in. foam core board, and thumb tacks. You are welcome to bring a
poster of whatever size you want (that will reasonably fit on an
easil) and place it on the easel or tack it onto a foam core
board. Your poster should NOT be a print-out of your poster abstract
or paper. Please use large fonts, brief text, graphs, and figures to
provide an overview of your work. You are welcome to bring a laptop or
other equipment for demos. If you will need a table for your demo
and/or a power outlet, please let the poster chairs know in
advance.
SOUPS 2009 is sponsored by Carnegie Mellon CyLab and Google.
