1. [25 points] 12-unit students: Read and write a summary of one optional reading paper. After each summary (in a separate paragraph) provide a "highlight" for that chapter. This can be something new you learned that you found particularly interesting, a point you would like to discuss further in class, a question the chapter did not fully answer, something you found confusing, a point you disagree with, or anything else you found noteworthy.

2. [50 points] An app developer would like to write a privacy notice that is compliant with current guidelines and regulations on smartphone privacy notices, and asks you to tell them what they need to do. You are pleased to find that the IAPP has provided a tool to help you understand the different guidelines. Read through the guidelines on notice for app developers.

Make sure to summarize in your own words all points of overlap between guidelines. Also try to make the checklist as concrete and actionable as possible, so that the app developer can implement them without needing to read the original documents or laws. For this problem, you do not need to cite the laws specifically. Instead, focus on creating a clear document aimed at an app developer.

3. [50 points] Imagine a high school is considering implementing video surveillance in the school. They have asked you -- an expert on privacy, law, and technology -- to provide guidance.
