ISRI Seminar Series The PhD Program in Computation, Organizations & Society presents: Nandkumar Saravade - Director of Cyber Security and Compliance at NASSCOM, India Data Protection: An Indian Perspective Monday, March 12, 2007 NSH-3002 12-Noon Lunch will be provided Abstract: Globalization has created some previously-unknown business models in the knowledge industry. It is now possible to disaggregate business processes and execute them in different countries. In this regard, the emergence of India as the preferred destination for outsourcing work is well known. It began on the foundation of lower labor costs and rose further on the building blocks of quality. India currently commands 64% of IT Outsourcing and 45% of the BPO global market. What is not known is how Indian companies manage to secure the data being processed and the knowledge being created. This talk seeks to explain the framework for data protection in India and the security initiatives implemented by the Indian IT industry. Bio: Nandkumar Saravade is the Director of cyber security and compliance at NASSCOM. Nandkumar is an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer. He specializes in cybercrime issues. He is handling NASSCOM's outreach program on cyber security, focusing on law enforcement capacity building on cybercrime response and enhancing information security awareness for different IT user groups.
